Imperial Intelligence has identified a source of Eagle's finances on Alderaan and Jen is sent to stop the flow of money. Aided by the strange diplomat Vector Hyllus Jen starts to investigate and hopes to find not only the terrorist financier but also answers to all the questions that have been haunting her.
(Jen's comments and more bellow the cut)
From Jen's (imaginary) diary...
I wanted this to end differently. I hoped to talk with Denri Ayl, to find out what would make an esteemed diplomat and a moral man devoted to peace turn to terrorists. I wanted answers.
What I got instead... his last words still sting me. I have devoted my life to protecting the Empire, but who have I really helped? My father told me that the Empire is its people, the system is what was built to give us strength. But what should I do if the system itself is destroying us now, if our rulers are our greatest threat, tearing the Empire apart?
Has Master Ayl given me the answer without even meaning to?
And am I strong enough to accept it?
---
I have to admit that when I first met Vector Hyllus I didn't know what to make of him. Now... in a sense I am confused even more. He seems so alien at times and what happened at Cortess was like a glimpse into a completely different mentality. But he chose the Empire over the Nest, with which he seems to somehow share his mind. I can't imagine a greater proof of allegiance.
I feel I can trust him, with his strangeness only making me want to understand him more. And I am glad to have him on my side.

Subject: From the Baron of House cortess
This message is sent in the name of Baron Peyar Cortess, Sword of the Castle Lands.Although the baron has already extended his apologies to the Imperial ambassador, he also wishes to express his profound regret over the necessity of your involvement in house affairs.
Baroness Chay was a valued member of the house, and she will be mourned. Nonetheless, her action in support of enemies of the Empire cannot be forgiven.
You offered Cortess a chance at redemption when you joined our fight against the Killiks. Difficult days lie ahead, but the baron has recalled his son Pashon to Alderaan and believes together they will forge a greater future and a true partnership with the Empire.
